Buckled vs Distorted alloy wheels

My daughter has low profile wheels which in Gloucestershire (pothole central) isn't a good combo.

Over the years she has had various MoT notes that some wheels are "buckled", but today got an MoT failure as two wheels are "distorted" rather than buckled. The garage said they don't fail buckled wheels but do fail distorted wheels.

What's the difference between the two?
