Hi all

I just wondered if anyone runs a set of the Proxes T1R,

How do you find the noise level? I have a set on the Giulietta, it almost sounds like a bad bearing, but everything has been checked, and is fine, I can only think it might be the tyres.

Not with Toyos, but I’ve had the same before - chasing a wheel bearing noise that eventually turned out to be a dodgy tyre.

Yep, had it recently. Thought I had a bearing on it's way, turned out it was a not round tyre.

Thanks both,

Tricky to know what to do, they're relatively new, but the noise is quite noticeable at most speeds now. I've not been very impressed with them handling wise too.

I may treat it to a new set of Eagle F1 6, and hope that it goes away!

Had them on my A4 and they weren't as noisy as the Conti Contacts that came off.

As above we had a horrendous droning from our daughter's Panda at 60 and above. Turned out to be a deformed inner sidewall that was there prior to buying the car, probably as a result of hitting a pothole.

Could well be something like this, it certainly seems to have got worse over time as well.

If you can narrow it down to a corner, jack up that corner and spin the wheel against a flat edge. You'll see/feel it touch, not touch, touch, etc to confirm.

Also check the tread wear. Uneven wear around the circumference will be another giveaway.

Thank you for that, it will be my task on Thursday I think!

just been through this very activity, you can tell it's tyre related as the drone is cyclical, whereas a bearing sounds different.

Never had noise from T1R or TR1, and I've used loads since I used to get them at a discount.

It's possible that they are noisier than your last set, but they are pretty soft with very soft sidewalls so not known for being loud at all.

Give your car a decent check over.

Thank you, these are the only set of tyres I've had on the car so far, I did wonder if the sound insulation isn't very good with the Giulietta, so may be that, and would be just as loud with another set of tyres.

I shall check the tyres next, it's been to my local garage for a general check up recently, and to our local tyre/wheel garage for them to check, they couldn't seem to find anything sinister.

TIR and Fulda Sport jobbies stand out as two of the harshest (noise and ride) tyres i've ever used, former was on Merc W124 latter came on the current Forester XT which were so harsh i removed them early.
Put me off both makes, but no complaints regarding the grip levels of either.
