I know it’s probably justified and those in the trade will say it’s excellent value but my daughter just paid £42.50 for a straightforward puncture repair on her Skoda Citigo.

I must be getting old as that seems a lot…

No other point of this post really just getting it off my (old) chest. (Born in the 1970’s)

I had a nail in a tyre a few months ago. I can't remember the exact amount, but it was around 25 quid for the repair.

Edit: Just found the receipt. It was actually £18.00 in March this year.

Last one I had a year of so ago at Kwikfit was £25+VAT. I also "invested" in a DIY puncture repair kit for under a tenner, but yet to have the opportunity to try it out (famous last words!).

Probably could have got a budget tyre fitted for that amount.

But depending on the repairer, I've been charged £25-£45 (local backstreet garage, national chain, mobile repair).

About 4 months ago I had 4 Goodyear Vector 4 seasons fitted to the car. Done 2000 miles at most since then so the tyre was always going to be repaired if possible.

I've bought 10 premium tyres in the past year from this place (Car x 6 and Motorhome x 4). Still chokes a bit at the cost.

I think it's fair to say that in addition to the puncture repair she also paid the female tax

No. Just an ‘emergency tax code’. HMRC are not the only ones at it.

Had two punctures last month , different tyres. One repaired for £10, the other was in the side wall so a new tyre was needed. Back street place in South of Scotland. Paid cash and wasn't needing a receipt.

FWIW, they can be repaired but need to be done with vulcanisation rather than the plug repair that Kwik-fit et al do. Whether it's worth it is questionable - last time I looked into it when I got some damage in a newish £150 tyre, I found a helpful chap who quoted me £30. Unfortunately, as he was some 60 miles away and needed the tyre for 3 days so I didn't take him up on it!

Here in Texas, a plug will cost about $10, a patch about $20 (they have to dismount, mount and balance again). Some places will do it for free to build good will.

Seems about right.

Round my way it is £25-30 tops.

I paid £10 for a repair to a run-flat, but that was in 2013!

I got a leaking tyre removed, rim cleaned up and a new valve fitted at the same place in 2017, but they charged Mrs Tidy £15 for the same in 2023.

Probably no more than £20 now but their prices have always been so competitive I never buy tyres anywhere else. Maybe it being a single-site independent helps?

£20 in Sept 2024 in Teddington - they did manage to put the tyre on backwards though…
