Hi all,

Running staggered 17" BMW wheels on my e46 330i - for the last 6 years or so I've had 225/45 R17 on the front and 245/40 R17 on the rear. Pretty standard stuff. Tyre of choice has been Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 or 6.

The fronts have lasted well but the 3rd set of rears are now on the wear markers. Just went to replace them and can't see them on black circles in that size. Just checked Camskill and they are showing the same.

Have they been discontinued in that size? What's my best option? I don't really like mixing brands, and I'm not changing the fronts as they have plenty of meat still on them. Any other sizes that would still fit?

So pissed off, just another thing in a litany of st for me at the moment.

Replying to myself now - neither oponeo or etyres do them - however Goodyear still list is as a valid size but F1 auto centres seem to be the only people who do them. Odd, such a normal sized tyre...

It’s a supply issue.

They are all shipped in obvs, and apparently (these are not my words) this is due to shipping channel issues - Hormuz etc.

I had to get PS5’s last week instead.

So they still make them, you just can’t get them atm.

Tyres are a funny thing.

On one of my cars I've changed from 16's, to 17's, to 18's, and partly because what was once a very common size with dozens of options, they just got thinned out.
So I moved up to what was then common at that time, then again, options got smaller and prices got higher.

245/40 sounds like a fairly normal, size, but guess not so much

Michelin offer their PS5 though which would be a great tyre.
