Hi,I have just fitted some adjustable shocks to the front of my wedge chassis, now when I drop it down of the jack the front end is sitting high.I have wound the spring platform down but can only take it so far without the spring coming loose, how can I set them to the correct hieght without this happening?doI need longer springs, softer springs, or is it me missing something?Hope someone comes up with a remedy as its doing my head in ,thanks.

I suggest you start by removing the springs completely and checking that the fully open and fully closed damper lengths are correct for your car. Once you've established that, you can start playing with the spring rates. If the spring rate is so high that the spring comes unloaded in droop then your options are to fit tender springs to prevent the main spring becoming unseated, or reduce the droop travel on the dampers.

Sounds like you've got a coil over conversion on yours now? all of the coil over conversions I've seen have been awful, quite unsuitable in proper engineering terms ..

as Peter says it sounds like you've got too much droop on the damper .. you can either move the whole damper upwards (ie raise the upper mount) or get your damper rebuilt with the correct stroke and maximum extension.

I've done a few coil over conversions now (and sorted a few that didn't work), so if you want to run a few ideas past me or get me to take a look I'd be happy to.

Thanks for that it looks like its back to the drawing board. As a point of interest the Avo shocks that I took of had a spring length of 200 mm and the nitrons I have put on are 170mm (free length). regards David.
