Installing Steering Rack Limiter on 05/06 Focus

Hello,

I am told the Focus requires a rack limiter to be installed in order to prevent 18" wheels rubbing on the wheel arch.

How difficult is it to do this? Are there any specialist tools required?

Movement on racks is normally restricted by putting sleeves on the rack under the gaiters. Mine on my Titan rack are alloy sleeves Loctited onto the rack shaft. So to fit these you need a lathe to make the spacers, something to split the trackrod end and then you need to take the trackrod off. These normally have a pin in a drilled hole or a peened over lock nut and then refit it with the correct preload.
