This may be a bit of a silly question but just want to check.... I've fitted grooved discs on my E30 and now there is a very loud rumbling when I brake - is this normal, due to the grooves?
I don't hear anything under normal braking but get a murmuring sound under heavy braking. Different calipers/pads/groove patterns are likely to behave differently though. It's certainly not unusual to get noises from grooved discs.
I've got grooved & spotted disks (front and rear) on the Mondeo... boy are they noisy! Had them checked over to make sure nothing was wrong... just seems it's one of those things.
I've got grooved discs on my Golf VR6 and they do grumble a bit, more so when braking hard. At the time of fitting I was told they would be a bit noiser than standard discs and that crossed drilled & grooved ones more so.
