Wheel Offset Limitations?

Are there any limitations to wheel offsets / ET values that should be adhered to?
The reason I ask is that I'm in the midst of redesigning the front suspension on my car and with the current wheel and upright setup, and wheels with ET37, the steering axis to ground intersection is about 60mm away from the centre line of the tyre contact patch, towards the centre of the car.
I'd like to get as close to centre point steering as possible, but I don't want to end up overloading the wheel bearings by having the wheel centre line massively offset from the plane the bearings are on.
Any thoughts?
