Bought a 1998 mk3 astra for a runabout and noticed that the brakes were a bit iffy. New calipers, discs and pads plus a new rear cylinder. When I came to bleed them through I could only get one circuit to bleed (diagonal system) but the other circuit wouldn't. plenty of fluid coming out on the front caliper but not a drop at the rear. Left the ezibleed on for an hour to see if there was a big airlock. Is it possible for a line to become blocked? I was also told that the seals in the master cylinder could "flip" causing it not to work anymore, that sound true to anyone?

Getting a bit hacked off with this now, any clues??

Have you checked that it is not simply that the bleed nipple on the wheel cylinder is blocked?
Try unscrewing it and blowing through, if blocked replace or clean out with small drill bits, wire etc:

found the fault it turned out to be a blocked pressure restricter on the rear flexi hose. fitted one from the scrappers for £2. Vauxhall wanted £110+vat for a pair!!

Kwik fit reckoned that it was the master cylinder, so much for the "kwik fit fitter we're the boys to trust" - to rip me off.

brakes now working.
