Does anybody have any experience of these brand brake pads?

My old pads are almost out and I'm going on a track day at the weekend so doing a last minute dash to get some new pads fitted. Most places were quoting 2/3 day delivery but I've sourced some Apec pads this morning. Never heard of them and wondered will they be chewed up by the end of a track day?

Thanks

Don't know the make but my concern is not that they get chewed on your track day but that they chew the discs.
I would want to stick with a known make and a grade others have proven to work on your make and model of car.

I had a similar experience to Thong, 'cept mine was on the road and I set fire to the front pads, they didn't like a few applications from 'warp speed 9', nasty things, would never use them again ever. Stick to a known brand, Mintex or Ferodo. If its a common car your local Partco should have the mintex, for Ferodo, you want a local IFA factor. IIRC Halfords sell either mintex or ferodo as well as own brand

we sell hundreds of apec disks and pads at work.

we very very rearly get any returned, they are prety good for the money. they are an every day brake pad, ideal for your 'every day' shoppping trollies. as for track use, they are not designed for performance, so dont expect it.

i currently have them fitted to my car (leon curpa R) they do the job well enough, but that do fade a bit if im going high speed stopping.

Yes fit these too, used in the purpose they are intended for have had no returns or warranty work, unlike Ate & Delphieekand i will say for certain if you do a track day with stock Mintex or Ferodo pads you will have just as much trouble as using stock Apecrolleyes

Holy thread revival!

Apec are one of a number of suppliers of R90 OE spec replacements.
Don't expect great things from them on a track day, just like you wouldn't from the OEM pads fitted by your dealer or in the factory.

I quite like Apec pads, good alternative to OE pads. Wouldn't rate them for track use though.

3 laps tops...then bend that steering wheel! Put proper pads in, rather than waste a few hundred quid on entry fuel etc or worse smack the fecker up! Oh put decent fluid in too.

APEC pads are close to ATE terms of quality and performance. They're far better than Mintex (who people think are amazing for some reason).

I sell APEC brake pads and I give a 12 month guarantee with them.

They're not racing pads like EBC but they are very very good for road use.

A friend of mine bought some for his E60 M5 18 months ago and they're still on the car and he drives it hard!

They're fine for a road car, but they do fade very very early with track abuse, but then, so do most oem replacement pads.

I've done a lot of work on my Son's Rover 200 Vi. Delphi pads and discs were awful. Apec pads and discs are fine for normal road driving.

I've used Apec pads/shoes for years ,ok not for track work but some were being used in h/d sits [loaded to max + vans with trailers ] at white van man speeds and found them adequate .Track days are a bit different but if you do lap after lap without letting the brakes cool any pads will give up unless you goto extremes of bigger calipers, discs etc it's finding a balance of cost/life[pad]and performance ,and don't forget putting good pads on sh----d dics does'nt work !!! depending on the car 1144 mintex should be ok for most sits

I had these on my car when I bought it. They had terrible fade and when I removed them the friction material was cracked and coming off the pad.

I have been using Apec pads, discs and shoes and for on road applications they perform brilliantly. I find them one of the best performing products for the price. The tier above these is high performance pads etc designed for the likes of track use. Despite possibly giving better braking performance, these will also not tend to last as long. It is always a trade off for performance vs longevity. If it is shoes then there will be no issue at all

I fitted a full set of APEC discs and pads to my range rover about 3 months ago. Been perfect.

I fitted them because the previous blend of Pagid front discs, cheap rear discs and EBC pads was NOT working, the car would randomly introduce wobbles front and back when breaking at motoroway speeds.

I asked a mate who runs a motor factors who were doing decent quality discs/pads these day and he suggested APEC as being best at the moment.

Bear in mind there are two APEC brands, OEM quality (painted etc...) and a cheaper brand without all the fancy OEM finishings. I made sure to source the full OEM APECs, and have been quite happy.

I’ve used them on a few cars and they seem good quality.
Probably wouldn’t use them in something I was giving a hard time but in a normal daily driver they are fine.

Apec are definitely at the cheap end. Quality is just ok.

Would always try and use a better brand where possible.
