205 GTi replacement suspension
Discussion
Now then kids,
So, I was in the garage again on Saturday with her MAJ having wishbones, a driveshaft and a new exhaust fitted. With the MOT rapidly bearing down on me, shes going to be at the old docs a bit. I'm just about to get her in to the spraky's to sort out the reverse light switch thats conked out and to re-wire the fogs onto a switch (my dear brother wired them into the main beams!! - bless him). But...we have yet another issue with my little restoration project, shes still a knocking down the front passenger side, the conclusion being, the strut mount has gone. So im thinking of buying me an early crimbo pressie for the red rocket. Im not intrested in lowering etc, and want to keep her as standard as i can, but i wouldnt mind an upgrade. Now im told not to mess with the standard set up on the 205 gti as apparently, its the best thing for her...just after your thoughts and recommendations??
cheers folks

When you say fog lights, do you mean the ones on the front? If so they are not fog lights but driving lights and should be activated when you turn on full beam.
Also before you start going to the expense of new shocks etc try changing the rubbers found found in the suspension top mount. But if you do want a change I have just changed to Koni adjustables and am hugely impressed. They do lower the car slightly but I have installed group N top mount rubbers which raise the height back up near standard. It has actually made the car stiff, but very well damped and actually quiet comfortable.

Hmm, cheers guys.
I was always told by my mechanic guy they were fogs, but i always thought they were just lower lamps (does the 205 even come with front fogs??). They weren't wired when i got her so our brother jus wired em into the main beams, i dont know whether thats legal or not? again, our mechanic tells me i got to have fogs on a separate switch if theres not not available on the dash (which i cant find it if there is one) and that i have to have them for my MOT (but im sure it passed before when they werent even wired into the main beams).
Now im getting a bit confused!

ok, ive chatted with our brother, he says your defo right (not that i disagreed in anyway), they're driving lamps and there is no front fogs on the old gti's. mine werent wired cos my step brother (who had her before her last owner) broke the old ones and never bothered to wire in the new set.
thanks for your help on that one!
