Hey guys,
I've got a set of ap racing brakes on the front of my car and the grooved discs have been cracked for a while but are now becoming pretty big. I'm going to be going to the nurburgring for a couple of days at the end of march for the rma trackday and would ideally like to get through the 2 days before replacing the brakes as i'm thinking about selling when i get back and dont want to pay for some new discs which i will not need in the future (the garage i'm part-xing with want to put the original brakes back on)
how much cracking would you guys consider to be dangerous and seeing as i'm going to be doing 2 days round the 'ring what could happen re brake failure etc???
the cracks are about an inch in length in parts but the discs are pretty large

Hard to say really they could go on for ages,or fail at any time, most likely under high stress i.e. at high speed or upon hard application!
is it worth risking your life for a set of discs?
Not to mention risking everyone elses lives! I doubt that anyone would recommend anything other than replacement. Maybe you can find someone who has the same disks but in a safer condition and do a deal with them? Oh and by the way. Now you have posted this question on a public forum... If you have an accident linked to brake failure your insurance company will know and you'll be in deep whatsit without appropriate liability cover. is it worth risking your life for a set of discs?

...so you're thinking of selling your car to someone knowing that there's a dangerous fault with it? If they fail when he's driving it, don't be surprised if you find yourself charged with manslaughter....
To be fair on that point he does say the buyer has said they'll be changing the disks. However driving a car with cracked disks
