the best way to skim discs is on the hub, using a brake lathe/refinisher, the only one I know of is in Chelsea at a Porsche specialist... Chelsea Carrera. I saw it there a couple of years back, they use it to true up discs before fitting new pads, reduces bed in time and squeal/judder issues. I flogged them thier A/C service machine smile

not experienced it myself, however I have heard some favourable reports, with the discs refaced on the hub, any minor warping and ridges are taken out, effevtively giving a "new" face for the pads, hence the bedding in period is shorter, also the new pads last longer as they are working over thier whole surface rather than on a few high points. Definately worth doing on expensive set ups, a bit pointless on a low end car where the discs are only £20 a pair (standard aftermarket fare).

This arrangement isn't for taking off half inch lips on totally shagged discs by the way!!

Phoenix Motorsport (Camberley) have their workshop near Heathrow and can do work on disks. Drop them a line for a price.

Phoenix Motorsport do all of their brake work in a unit just behind Heathrow. Give them a shout for advice.
