What was the original problem with the brakes as standard?
If you run different compounds front and back, you will change the braking balance. Most pads that work better at high temperatures will have less grip at cold. So for street use, your braking balance could vary as you drive round. With your set up, it may be possible that in the cold and wet an emergency stop might result in the back hardly working at all, and when really hot, the back might be out performing the front.
For ultimate braking performance you need to get to limiting friction with front and back wheels together, or with slightly more performance at the front.
Changing anything at one end only will change the balance of braking power. A common upgrade is to improve the front end only. This can often result in a reduction of ultimate braking performance. This is because the front brakes are making the wheels lock before the rear brakes are producing full retardation.
