Lowering of a Mk 2 Escort Sport

What if i choose to, is the best way of lowering and upgrading a Mk 2 Escorts suspension from standard height ...... i presume SPAX or BILSTEINS but i have never uprated /lowered a cars suspension .......... and any ideas what i should be looking at spending to do it properly and also is it normally just an inch or lower ... ??

I don't know the 'approved way' but single leaf springs at the rear and shorter struts and springs at the front seems to be the way we did it about 25 years ago on a mk2.
