Does anyone know where I can buy an off the shelf "universal" blade type ARB, or atleast a fettle-able off the shop item?

This is it, dont know if its what you are after. not the best looking thing i have seen but it looks like the bar can be shortened easily.

is it not the adjustable stiffness blade type your after? the type with one (or possibly both) lever arms as machined blades that can be rotated to vary the stiffness of the bar without altering pickup points or bar thickness.
if so, i dont know of any universal kits, but Z Cars (of silly-fast bike engined Mini fame) do them for their range of cars. im sure they would sell you the individual bits or even make one up to the lengths you need.
theres also a couple of US firms that do kits that have a cable operated 'cam' attached to the adjustable blade for in car adjustment (google is your friend) but they tend to be a bit on the beefy side, ideal for a lightweight 2 ton US 'sports' car rolleyes

That's the sort of thing yes. The Rally Design one isn't adjustable, sadly. I don't need it to be in-car adjustable, so I'll try Z-cars then look at the US.

Cheers.

Here's our effort. Work in progress at the moment. Blades are Titanium. Just got the mounts to make. Obviously untested at the moment and almost certainly too stiff. Easily remedied by machining some thickness off the blades.
Geoff.

Hi Iain, the central portion of the bar is cut from a CATERHAM 16mm ARB.
Geoff.
