My TVR S1 has standard 240mm discs and hubs from a ford Sierra, with green stuff pads, and up until recently have been superb, however the car was off the road for a couple of months over the winter and the discs have corroded beyond repair (unbelievably, but its true), and given the trackday abuse I give them, I `d like to upgrade.
I am aware that you can use Mondeo calipers and 260/280mm discs etc, but I want to use lighter weight calipers. Willwood calipers are one option, but the upgrade kit is around £500-00, which is a lot to spend on a £3000-00 car.
Does anyone know of any other options?

Thanks

Mark

If you want a pair of hardly used 240 discs to keep you going then I have some you can have. Recently fitted some 260mm discs and calipers so they're just cluttering up the place.

Thanks Jed, I appreciate the offer. The discs are fine for normal use, but they did not perform so well on the Marham trackday,...the other day.

The main reason I want to fit aluminium calipers is to reduce the unsprung weight, but you have obviously fitted bigger discs, increasing the unspung weight etc. Did you use the standard calliper, with an adaptor??
Have you noticed any differences in ride quality or the suspension reacting to bumps differently since increasing the unsprung weight? Its all pretty heavy stuff really for a relativley light car, although plenty of lighter kit cars use the Sierra hubs/brakes etc, successfully?

I used 260mm discs and calipers for a XR4i. Didn't notice any difference on the road due to the unsprung weight (disc is 0.5Kg heavier - don't know about the caliper) but then the whole assembly each side isn't light to start with. Biggest difference came 2 weeks later with fitting some ER300 tyres. They are much more supple than the old P6000s that were fitted and the ride is much smoother although the extra rubber (and possibly heavier wheel) accounts for an extra kg per corner.
