Put my car in the gravel on Saturday, slicks were hot and are now covered in gravel, this was during practice for first race of the season, and I was using the tyres I raced at end of last year, I have two new sets of slicks on wheels that I was planning to fit for the race, (which I didn't start in)but I was hoping to keep last years set for track days.
One tyre actually picked up some nylon rope that wrapped around it and melted on, got that off quick, and I've picked the larger pieces of gravel off, but I'd like to get these tyres usable for track days, what is best way to clean them? or is it best to just use them for a lap and see of they "self clean".

I have seen guys at races heating the surface with a heat gun and scraping the top layer off with a wallpaper scraper. Dirty job but the come out looking like new!
