5.1 fluid

i have never run 5.1 fluid before is it suitable for daily driving as well? I have an old car i want to take on the odd track day which will also my commute car. Does 5.1 perform suitably for day to day use as well?

Yep, DOT 5.1 is fine.

It's DOT 5 (silicone based) that is not miscible with other fluids and which can cause problems.

5,1 is an older spec.fluid that has been dropped by a lot of major companies,it is outperformed by many of the newer Super DOT 4 fluids,Castrol Super Response being one of them,it should be changed at least every two years as it still absorbs some moisture from the atmosphere, Hth

Now that does make sense as the Lucas 5.1 that i was advised to get is no longer available. Is the super 4 suitable for the odd bit of track/sprint use?

Yes,make sure you get Super Response as they also make a Response which is an older spec. dot4,not a super dot 4.
