Found out this weekend i have a lovely sticky caliper and ideally need to get the car fixed asap.

I've found a new caliper but its £410 so id rather attempt a refurb. which parts will be destroyed and need replacing?

car is a 2006 MX5 mk3 and its the front drivers side caliper.

They normally sieze when dirt/crap gets into cylinder pot/chamber?. The surface is meant to be super smooth and clean to allow movement of the cylinder. If it corrodes the cylinder will seize.

The caliper will seize when the brakefluid is durty or the seal inside the piston housing is distorted. In exttreme casses it can be caused by the chrome that is starting to come off the piston. Also have a look at the caliper slides. They could be dry and needs to be removed, cleaned and re-greased.
