Driving to work this morning in the dark I noticed that the brake warning light was partially illuminated, though driving back in the day light you can just make out it is still on.

The brakes are ok at the moment though there are times when they feel a hell of a lot better and a lot sharper. The car has had new discs and pads all round in the summer and had brand new DOT 5 brake fluid put in, though since then I did get the brakes very hot in the Alps in August

Ive tetsed the servo at start up and thats fine and , the brake lights are working and Ive checked the fluid level and that was ok with lt just below the max level.

Anyone had a similar problem or know whats up?

Car is a 2003, 2.0 Ford Focus BTW.

If it's sort of half way between on and off it's the pad wear indicator starting to wear through. Your pads will need replacing soon.

Found the problem. On the inside of both the front discs something has been grinding with the o/s worse than the near

I cant quite see the pads with the wheel on but im guessing when I got the brakes hot its damaged the pad or something like that as its literally just the last 5-10mm of the disc gone.

Good news: The light has gone out.

bad news: the front right disc is warped and the slow puncture ive had on the o/s/r is now a full on puncture

And so il keep on talking to myself lol

Well I had the car in the garage today and they said that they cant find any fault with the braking system that would cause the light to partially illuminate, so their best guess is that the instrument cluster is beginning to fail. They used a few bits off a scrapped Focus theyve got and theres no fault codes so I guess it seems feesable with the cluster being a common problem on the Focus.

To stop you talking to yourself.

I have had the same issue with the dim warning light. I have checked the brake fluid and this is slightly below max and will be checking the pads and discs tonight.

Was this an issue with the cluster?

Car is a 2003, 1.6 Ford Focus.

I hope that if you bid on that you pay for it and dont make up some poppy cock excuse, only to be caught out by a buyer who saw your thread wanting to be outbid.
