Modifiying An ABS Spoiler - Options ?

Hi guys,
I have an RX7 and I don't like the standard spoiler as its too "fussy" I'd like to simplify it by cutting off the inner legs and making it slimmer.
It's hollow ABS.
(Yes my bodywork skills are better than my photoshop ones)
I suspect fibreglass would crack but all the ABS kits are just for minor cracks and I'd be trying to shape large areas.
A mate suggested filling it with expanding foam before cutting which seemed like a good idea but if I then fibreglass will it just crack along the (large) joins ?
