Hey guys,

My Eunos needs machine polishing - it's Mariner Blue, and covered in swirls. Not too bad for 20 years old though!

I like being hands on with it, and it's not worth paying to do (lacquer starting to peel on the rear wing) as I'll be getting it resprayed in a year or two.

Found this kit on the bay of e, seems fairly good, and also seems pretty cheap compared to the usual suspects....

It'll be used on the Eunos (which I understand has very soft paint), my mum's 5 black 5 series (which I think has very hard paint) and my other half's green polo (somewhere in the middle?)

My thoughts are that this kit comes with enough different pads to allow me to use one or two different compounds depending on the paint hardness/level of swirling and scratches - does this sound right?

If so, what compounds would you recommend? I'll be doing the full works on the body (2 bucket wash, clay, wash again, machine polish, wash again, Autoglym HD wax. Allowing a couple of days per car. I have some spare body panels to practice on, but would definitely going slowly and carefully, plus being DA there should be less risk of burn.

Does this sound about right, and is there anything else I should consider?

Cheers,

Sam

Seems a decent machine but I can't see anywhere that it is a d/a, it looks like a variable speed rotary to me? Obviously if you are aware of the possible burn through issues of rotary polishing and practice on the spare panels you have you should get on fine. Most people seem to recommend Meguiars #105 and #205 for swirls but worth looking at Scholl concepts products as everyone seems to to be going towards them in the professional environment for rectification work...

BTW. Amazon have that machine with slightly fewer accessories Amazon

If your looking for a good mix of compounds it mostly depends on the paint your using it on. We mainly use 3m and scholl concepts as they offer the better finish's. Although we also use a mix of Wolfgang, DoDo & swissvax compounds.

What car do you plan on using it on? or are you planning on using it on a few?

Regards,
Nick
