When Ventureshield does its job (ie, protect against a stone), the stone itself can leave a mark on the film.

What are the tips/recommendations for repairing the scratches on Ventureshield?

Indeed, Kelly is very good. But is every detailer as experienced at polishing film?

And even in the link Kelly provides, the result after correction is not as good as his work on the naked body.

I am beginning to think it is high cost, very careful maintenance, low gloss. confused

Its why i have not got paint film on my cars , never look as good as perfect paint , expensive outlay to have film applied , can be damaged with some cleaning products of the qualtiy detailing type , will still swirl like paint does with poor wash technique.

I have removed more than had applied to my customers because of poor finish and ageing , of course the will be different from one make of film to another , some to do with the person/company appling the film and lastly who is carring on with the aftercare .

some swear by films and some dont, some just wait 2-3 years and have the front of the car re-painted , good and bad for both really .

i am not against films at all , and work very well , its just in my line of work looking for the best finishes possible a film with never look right wearing my detailing glasses .

I know of people who buy a car because its got a film on the paint and still wearing its original paint .

A veyron or cars like that then yes its worth every penny.

Correcting films can take along time and needs alot of care when doing so , its not like polishing paint .

Paint can be polished from 0 degc upto 80 deg c panel temps with great success , film will melt at high temps (well soften) and damage , and can score at low temps with heavy cut compounds being used .

The window of compound selection / temps / pressure of cutting action is small compared to paint polishing

I don't expect the same finish on film as you can achieve on paint.

But film gives protection against chipped/scratched paint that raw paint on its own has zero protection.

No detailer ever likes film. It fundamentally prevents them access to the surface that they make a living from.

Kelly if you fancy a run over, I have some new technology film you could have a play with.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

Give me a bell

Cheers
Tom,

Would love too, but realistically I got now chance of a spare day let alone a few hours.

I have heard some interesting things on the self-healing films.

I do get enquires for these types of films and the wrap company’s won’t go near clear films for one reason and another.
In the south we seem to be lacking a company like yourself.

That’s it I’m marked for life now, I thought Mars bars were detailers food anyway. I bring some goodies next time I visit and I’ll stay away from your fridge biggrin

On a serious note this new Ultimate Film is a massive leap forward in technology and finish, it details up nicely and has very good marring resistance, most light marks will come out with heat (hot water) anything else just use a machine.

Let me know your ideas.
Regards, Roy.
