I had a go at lead loading years ago as a practice for an MGB I was restoring: I had a Mk3 Cavalier bonnet that had a badge depression that needed filling as my car was a later model with the ebadge on the grill. I bought a lead kit from Eastwood or similar and it worked out really well, no signs of cracking or lifting despite that Cavalier testing my patience and me slamming the bonnet shut many times. smile

You have to be really careful using lead, no dry sanding due to poisonous dust, only wet sanding and wash your hands really well afterwards...the guy lighting his cigar shouldn't really smoke around lead working either, but I guess he's lived that long and survived. smile

It's great to see old school talent at work like that, thanks for posting the link. smile

We used to do that in BT. Lots of lead joints underground (even though BT says there isn't!) Had to be air tight as well as the network was pressurised to keep water out.
