I'm about to put mum's car up for sale for her. It's black which means that the 12 year old paintwork looks a little.....well-used shall we say.
There are loads of swirl marks from poor cleaning over the years and a number of scratches I'd like to try and tidy up a little. It's got door-dings from parking incidents over the years which I don't think will pop out (no broken paint though). Basically I'd like to make it look as appealing as possible to a prospective buyer. I've ordered new mats (the existing ones are shagged) and will be giving it a top-to-bottom going-over.
What off-the-shelf products work well for removing swirls on black paint? I know one can have a 'professional paint correction' but that would cost more than the car is actually worth. I'm prepared to put the work in myself to make it shine.
I'll be washing and claying it prior to any other treatments.
Advice appreciated!

If you have a machine polisher some people suggest sanding it back with 1500, 2000 etc W+D then polishing them back up, that 3M polsih would work! Alternatively you could try this, being a Meguiars product I imagine it would work quite well.
Im more involved with paintwork, never really had to get involved with doing much on headlights sorry!
Im sure if Kelly comes along he will have a suggestion or two to make!

Cracked on with the car today and I have to say, I think it's scrubbed up pretty well.

Quite pleased with all my efforts to be honest. Did it in several stages:
1) Rinse
2) Wash (Meguiars Shampoo)
3) Clay (Meguiars clay kit)
4) Wash again
5) G3 Scratch Remover
6) G3 Paint Renovator
7) Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish
8) Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax
Went with the G3 for scratch removal as the weather was kind and it was available. To be fair to it, it did a pretty good job. Didn't find anything to attack the headlights with and they're still not looking great imo.
