hi guys,

I am soon to start polishing my own car and the mrs, and maybe a couple of friends if they fancy it.

the kit list i have at the minute is as follows;

Dodo juice electric buffer i bought last year
2x pads, not even sure which is which (cut)
  1. 80 meguires speed glaze
Dodo juice lime prime
a couple of clay bars
bilbury wheel cleaner
alloy wheel wax chemical guys
dodo juice born to be mild shampoo
a few mits and microfibre clothes
AG HD wax
and a panel pot of Dodo juice supernatural

What other kit would you guys suggest i get and what works well?

I am wanting to get the 3M polishes and pads to match, Gliptone leather cleaner, and possibly the full size supernatural wax.

anybodys thoughts on the 3M polish? and what else i may need if wanting to do a good job?

cheers

If you're going to get more aggressive compounds and polishes I'd suggest you add a paint gauge to your shopping list.

I've not used the 3m polishes but I do like the 3m pad. I find they work better on a rotary polisher than a da. But I do use them on both.

Compound / polish wise I go with the Menzerna range. Just personal preference though.

I highly rate the 3M polish range, I have used all sorts ranging from Farecla, Menzerna etc and find 3M easiest to work with using minimal product and fast results! Not much of a fan when it comes to the pads they provide aparts from the black waffle head, I normally use the Farecla mop heads. Having said that I have to admit I have not used 3M's latest range of mop heads so I can not comment!

Set up I tend to use and get great results with as below...

Polish -

Mop heads -

firstly could you give the details of the cars (make/model/colour/age/even conditon) then i can help ,

there is not ONE size fits all with cutting compounds and polishes.

there is thou with waxes, clay bars, shampoos etc and your list is fine

The standard bodyshop method of most rapid removal of paint/correction and then "masked up with a finishing glaze to hide all the buffer lines induced with the first process.
