DAS 6 sounds like bag of bolts
Discussion
Gents,
I've not used my DAS 6 for a few months, fired it up on Friday and at times it rattles like a bag of bolts. Along with that it feels a little loose and vibey.
Use has been reasonably light with only two big jobs and four or so light ones so it's not like it's had a hard life.
It's out of warranty (just over a year old) so I'm not afraid to pull it apart and investigate bit if anyone has some direct pointers I'd be very grateful.

Could be the rubber bearing bush at the 'handle' end of the main driveshaft. These can sometimes become crimped and then allow free movement of the main shaft, destroying the carbon brushes through vibration etc. Dissembly is pretty easy. Ensure machine is DISCONNECTED FROM MAINS - Important, death may result - then:
1) undo rear screw at back of casing and slide off.
2) take carbon brushes out and 'rest' to one side (otherwise these will spring in once the main shaft is removed, preventing it from being put back in).
3) Pop off the plastic heat cover over the gear casing head.
4) Remove the four screws holding the grey metal gear case to the plastic body of the machine.
5) Slide out the driveshaft and gear head assembly and inspect the rubber bush at the end of the bearing.

Job done, thank you
Pulled it apart and found....nothing obviously wrong, so just checked all connections, the brushes, bearing, grease etc and put it back together.
Quick test with a pad on, not polishing anything but whirling about at different angles produced none of the previous nasty noises.
Happy days, I hope!
Cheers,
SF
