Hi, my Skyline has had a very poor repair on the drivers door somewhen in the past. The area of the repair is about the size of a football and it looks to have been filled but not flatted correctly - there are ripples in the door when viewed from the right angle. On top of this, the paint over the repair is very thin - I can see the primer and there's a sort of bloom effect around the repair.

Question is; what should I budget for it to be re-done correctly. It doesn't need to be 'show' quality but I would want a decent job - especially the colour match which hopefully will be easy as its a solid black.

Only after an idea of budget - any suggestions please?

Depending on the colour (if it will need blending into adjoining panels), the work that needs doing to get rid of the ripples I'd say somewhere between £250 and £450 for a good job.
But (and as much as some people think a job is a job and should be as near perfect as possible no matter how cheap they can get the job done for) your expectations of the finished job should also come into the equation.
99 times out of 100 a cheap job will be cheap because it's been rushed - and an expensive job will be expensive because it's been done carefully and with care. So it could cost even more for an 'as perfect as a repair can be' job.
Set your budget, visit some shops, see examples of their work and ask questions. Re-visit and ask more questions and then go with the one you feel most happy with.
