I've picked up a few small, but annoying scratched on my front and rear pu bumpers.

They've really just grazed the surface, maybe just into the paint, but look worse because the lacquer coating is roughed up.

Can a machine polish actually reduced the effect of small scratches? Surely this removes the lacquer?

Machine polishing removes the top layer of the clear coat, if they go all the way through the clear coat they've gone wrong somewhere!

If the scratches have gone through to the paint, it will need to be painted rather than polished.

Nice job. The scratches I'm concerned about are a bit deeper and slightly more scuffed around the edges.

Like that biggrin

the truth thou, if a bit sad is i change my cloths through out the detailing process , and i even have soft track suits for rough cut then medium cut and then finishing cut.

I drum it into the staff that we have different clothing for different operations of the detailing process and that they should not be mixed up ,

same goes the when we repair and repaint bodywork.

My superman outfit comes out on special occasions tongue out

OT but what would you LIKE to do to the little that did that to a car. What has society come to? I hope one day whoever did that manages to pull himself out of the gutter, scrape enough money together to buy himself a nice car and then have a little like he once was come along and do the same to it. Probably self perpetuating situation which means society was not improving, but that is how I feel furiousfurious And breathe!

sorry forgot to add "How the marks got on the paint" ,

it was something i left out as it was actually done by a valeting company who offered to "hand wax" the car.

So they did "hand wax" the car with added grit under the applicator.

I left it out as it could look like i am slagging off valeting and people who valet cars, which was not the idea of the reply.

To think someone paid a professional for it is worse than some jealous scum bag doing it for fun.
