Bought a brand new car with solid black paint.

How long before I should polish it?

I use Autoglym standard super resin polish. Is this a good idea? Is the 'ultra deep shine' version any better with black paint?

My mate swears by maguires products...are these better than Autoglym?

I am thinking of starting a frsh with this car and buying a Zymol kit....any body had experience of this product?

Cheers

Use a proper hand wax on the first few valets. Dodo juice, Meguires etc and build up a proper base protectant. Is hard work but well worth it then use polish every couple of weeks.Would say wax once every 3 months.

A few pics of any current defects, details of useage, how current wash and dry method etc would be handy to give a proper answer.

The car is brand new, so not really any defects. I use AG shampoo with the two bucket method, dry with a AG cloth and Polish every other wash with AG polish....I usually wash the car every week.
I use the car everyday and cover 30,000 miles a year, so am realistic about how clean I can keep it. I am more concerned about general protection bird mess etc..

Its a brand new Porsche Cayman 981 in solid black. I mention this as I have heard people say Porsche paint work is different???? Also, solid black is more vulnerable than metallic??

So why does it need polishing?

As above, don't use polish, use a good sealing wax, you seem to like AG stuff, so their high def wax would fit the bill.

I'm sure Kelly will be along in a bit but its extremely rare to be able to say "factory paint" and "not really any defects" in the same sentance!

The best way to look after a black car will be during the washing process.

snow foam, 2 bucket method etc

Yes, been looking at snow foam attachments for my Karcher. I never use a high pressure hose on my car...but can see the benefits of the snow foam...plus it looks impressive!

High Def AG ....hmmm....anybody else used this stuff? Feed back much appreciated. Just covered 700 miles in the last 24 hours, so poor old car needs some tlc this Saturday morning....

only ever had 1 single car that was brand new and did NOT need some sort of correction to make the paint Brand New.

this is after dealing with more than 100 brand new cars in for JUST a paint protection package, some cars needed paining some needed 2-3 days true proper paint correction all before the protection side of things.

I have a lovely growing gallery of Brand New defects that would make a great thread biggrin
