Bird sh*t on Audi red paint
Discussion
A bloody seagull has crapped across my bonnet, and as I didn't notice, baked in the sun. I have tried to remove it but it has left a residue I can't get rid of.
The bonnet was polished at the weekend so I'm surprised it wasn't more resilient. Anyone know how I can remove these 'shadows' which only show at a certain angle?

sadly thats not residue, it's damage to the clear coat. You can polish it with fillers and it will look better ( then re do as req'd) or you can do some paint correction and hope it will be saveable before the clear coat runs out. If not a repaint is the solution. The bonnet was polished at the weekend so I'm surprised it wasn't more resilient. Anyone know how I can remove these 'shadows' which only show at a certain angle?
I had to work on a 62 plate Red BMW 3-Series that had the exact same issue, the car was bombed on a sunny day and when the owner got home he tried to wash it off but nothing would shift it.
A reasonably aggressive polish and pad combo soon removed it but the only way to stop it really is to get some durable paint protection on there, these solid Reds in particular seem to suffer with it. Ideally a long lasting Wax or even better a Ceramic / Glass coating such as Cquartz, Gtechniq, Ceramishield, 22ple, Opticoat etc would be your best bet for long term protection.
