I would like to give my 996 fabric roof some TLC. The roof itself is in nice condition, colour is good but rear screen is a little cloudy and I'd like to seal the roof to help keep it looking tip top. Any recommendations?

To complicate matters, the fabric tonneau cover that is only visible when the roof is down (see highlighted section in photo) has some staining and a small white patch where I'm guessing someone has spilt something on it. I see Renovo do both a "blue" and "dark blue roof restoration kit/dye" but I'm not sure whether it's worth getting just to cover this small section. It doesn't have to be a precise match for the roof but just look a little smarter than it currently does.

If I was recolouring the whole roof then it might be worth the £60 but I'm a little wary as the roof is a nice colour as it is. Any thoughts/experience with roof kits?

Your roof is the same colour as mine and I used the dark blue renovo with excellent results. I already had the autoglym cab roof cleaner and proofer so started by cleaning the roof thoroughly. I waited for it to dry then just painted the renovo on (don't do this in direct sunlight or it will dry badly and look terrible) waited 24 hrs for it to be fully dry then used the proofer to protect it. The roof looks like new after the treatment.

The best cabriolet roof sealer on the marker is Fabsil it's used mainly on tents,
Buy the paint on type rather than the aerosol can.
Mine beads up lovely 10 months on, also the Fabsil is only around £10.

Also I used renovo colour restorer before application of the Fabsil and its brought the roof up on my 20 year old Audi as new.

I was lucky as my plastic rear window had been replaced by the previous owner but I have heard good reports about Renovo window restorer, it's meant to bring a cloudy rear window up as good as new.

The only thing is if the stitching is a different colour to the roof then the Renovo will also dye that but I think it looks better to have the stitching the same also I heard the Renovo can shrink the roof slightly but it didn't happen on mine and I went OTT and used the whole bottle.

To give you an idea what Renovo can do here is my 20 year old roof the white bits on top is bird crap as I haven't cleaned it for a few months and the sea gulls love using it as target practice.

I don't know how the iPad has turned my car up on its roof. smile

Ps Renovo roof dye should only cost around £20 or that's what I paid on eBay

The Renovo polish for perspex / plastic windows is an underrated, but brilliant product imo:
