So the local jet wash shut off without warning and the rubber protector from the jet was missing, made a nasty 4" scratch across the boot lid.
was deep but not through colour coat, filled with correct touch up and carefully got smooth with polishing compound.
Layer of polish then wax and I was feeling rather proud of a job well done! :-)

But now its seen a couple of days out and about it's looking awful, its all hazy where I rubbed the polishing compound. Is there anything I can do to polish back up? or have I just damaged the surface too much?

Thanks for any help.

What polish did you use? Quite a coarse one?

A finer polish on a microfibre should bring it back if so

Also sounds like you get the jet far too close to the paint.
Common result of high pressure water too close to a panel is the sudden removal of a piece of lacquer from the area of a stone chip. Often on bonnets & front bumpers. Done it myself, patch of lacquer about 1" diameter, resulting in a complete bonnet resprayfrown

Tried a spot of mer, then wax.

Got new formula super resin polish that I could try.

Thanks for the tip about jet wash, have been close as 30 degrees bakes dead flies into the toughest substance known to man!
