Pint from repair seems to have worn away - how
Discussion
However, a scrape has appeared on that corner. It wasn't me so I assumed that someone had scraped along the car in a car park, which is unlucky as it has hardly ever been in a car park. However, on closer inspection the damage seems strange. There is a scrape on the forward edge of the wheel arch where something has rubbed along the car. Not gone through the paint but put scratches in it, which is normal. But right on the corner of the bumper there is a 6cm section of missing paint (it is white where the car is black) what is strange is that the transition from black to white is incredibly smooth – as if it is has been sanded. However, bumpers do get scratched. Really unusual is higher up on the edge of the fuel filler recess there is now some bare metal, about 3cm long, again with a very smooth transition from black to bare.
So the wheel arch could be a normal scrape but I don't understand the smoothnees of the other two. There is no way you could miss the missing paint from the filler cap area when filing up but there is no visible damage within 20cm and I can't see how paint could be smoothly removed down to the metal without marks elsewhere.
Obviously I'm going to go back to the dealer but I thought I would try to understand what might have happened first as they will presumably try and fob me off.
Cheers
