Best touch up paint?
Discussion
Some debris hit my wife's moonstone grey Audi A3 and has left several stone chips on the front wing, having never attempted a repair before I'm looking for advice onthe best product to use.
Audi do a paint/lacquer for £10
Halfords do a cleaner/paint/lacquer for £16
[ur]www.chipex.co.uk[/url] do the following for £30
10ML of Chipex Paint
75ML of Chipex Blending Solution
30ML of Chipex Polish
4 x Microbrushes
2 x Nitrile Gloves
1 x Paint Removal Cloth
1 x Microfiber Cloth
1 x Instructions
Unsure as to which one to go for.

Without knowing the colour code I can't be 100% sure but I'm presuming this is a metallic colour. If this is the case you'll never get a perfect match I'm afraid.
When a car is sprayed it produces a very thin layer of paint and the metallics 'sit' properly.
No matter how you try to touch it in you will be putting on a thick layer in comparison to spraying and the metallics will 'sink' - they'll become non reflective and so the touch in will appear darker.
If you proceed with touching in don't sand the touch-in. You'll flatten any metallic particles that happen to be near the surface and the touch in will dull further, turn greyer and go even darker.
I have no experience of the different touch up paints - but what I would say is it really won't matter which is best cos you won't get a perfect colour match anyway because of the nature of metallic paint - not what you wanted to hear I'm sure - sorry.
