Son number 2 has just bought a 2009 mini with a black, grey and silver roof graphic depicting a union jack. The silver bits are crazed and spoil the look of the car.

We attempted to remove the graphic and the black bits come away easily with a bit of heat, however on attempting the silver bits it goes like a scratch card and only comes off in tiny pieces. If I continue with this process it will take 2 weekends.

Is there a better alternative to remove this stuff

we had the exact same situation (i done mean exact same model and sticker/colour combo)

we tried heat gun,
we tried warming for hours in spray booth,
we tried tar and glue removers (many,
i think we even tried WD40/petrol as we had nothing to lose
we gave up spending hours picking it off in tiny bits,

so the quickest way was to sand it down and repaint the roof,
when then fine lined masked the roof and spray the stripe/cross back on properly like it should of been done at the factory.

Hi I had to get a lot of stripes off a 20 year old Winnebago nothing seemed to work eventually used a toffee wheel on an air drill which worked really well you could try one on a electric drill just be careful.

good point that , but some people may make more mess than they started with.

I took the damaged stripes off the missus mini, managed to save the roof and boot but had to get the bonnet resprayed.
It took me all weekend with the heat gun and as you say its a nightmare, i took off the adhesive residue afterwards with some petrol.
I think sticking at it with the heat gun is the only option unless you do as suggested and have the panel sprayed

Mine were baked on!!! Grey silver and blue all came off from steel and fiberglass painted panels no paint damage at all.
