Arrived home from long motorway trip and discovered an enormous brown bird dropping on the bonnet. Having not seen it land and I guess having then been baked on with the heat of the engine for a few hours it proved pretty resistant to getting off. However having carefully removed it I am left with a huge orange peel stain in the paint where the bird crap had been.

Have tried to remove it with normal Autoglym SRP, MER etc but nothing touches it. Is this a repaint job or could a good detailer polish it out? If so anyone recommend one in the West Kent area?

It depends how deep it is. It can polish out or may need some wet sanding. KDS should be close to you.

Warm water on kitchen paper to remove the bird lime......wash the area, clay, then polish with something a little more aggressive than SRP. If you have a machine polisher give it a go, and then wax.......if not it will be time spent with a pad and just polish away.

Every time a bird craps on my car, I climb a tree and crap in a nest, but they never seem to learn.

Autoglym SRP is not a cutting polish, more of a filler really. Get some good quality cutting polish (I use Poorboys) and give it another go. Much easier with a machine polisher of course. Quite reasonable - I bought a DAS-6 dual action polisher with pads and polish for a little over £100. That was two years ago and still have plenty left.

Thanks for all the tips and advice, much appreciated.

Anyone have a ballpark view on what it would cost for a detailer to polish this out?
