I have an aluminium fuel cap which is bare in colour. I would like it to be black. Is there any way to do this?

The powder coating man said that it'd come off.

Google says paint it black and then use a certain type of lacquer to fuel proof it?

Am I on a hiding to nothing?

Could you not anodise it? I'm not sure how black it will go but it'll then resist most chemicals.

Take it to a bodyshop and ask them if they can do it for you.

I could take it to a body shop, maybe cheaper than anodising? Is it the lacquer that protects cars paint work as opposed to the paint?
