Does having a nano technology product, such as Gtechniq C1, applied to a vehicle have the potential to cause problems at some future point when wishing to apply a polish to the vehicle?

Well. Confusion over polish and sealants.

Polish for bringing out the shine, sealants for protection.

If you do the prep, decontamination, clay, polish, cleaning then seal (C1 exo, crystal serum etc) All you need after for the next year or so is a qd or maintenance product, say C2V3.

If it lasts that long......Im sure they last a long time in a lab in perfect conditions, in the real world with washing and the elements no chance.

This is why I wont bother with these nano products, if after 3-6 months and im not happy with the finish of the paint and need to correct/machine polish something your essentially having to remove the product that's been applied.

It does, I don't, and I do 20k/yr in the car.

These are good products im not saying they aren't they just don't suit everyone, ideally they are what dealers should offer as the vast majority of people would like the extra protection but don't care about the odd swirl/hologram.

Check the bottom 3rd's of your doors to see when the product is breaking down, it always looks good on the bonnet/roof/boot to show people how long it lasts. The bottoms of the doors are the give away and it wont last anywhere near a year down at that point.

Car is washed weekly, as above, only requires maintenance, e.g. C2.

the gteqhniq life for C1 is measured in years, and it seems to work on both our cars here

ymmv however.

My mileage is similar but the climate I live in is very different.

However if you are regularly using C2 as a top up its going to be nearly impossible to say if the original C1 is actually lasting or not!

Yes, now having looked at you profile we do have differing climates. I wonder if the desert winds and sand are a comparable component to say the cold and salted roads of the UK.
By maintenance, it's usually about once a quarter, no need for any more.

The sand is horrific to be honest, it bakes to the paint in summer (clay barring cars is a perfect norm with cleaning!), the sun bleaches everything especially plastics, rubbers dry out very quickly, did I mention the sand that gets everywhere and sticks to everything? Maintenance is a complete ball ache, but keeps me busy!

Perhaps I should have been more explicit: llets say after a year I feel the car needs polishing, do I need to completely remove the nano,?

Ideally yes as polishing over it wont be ideal as the nano will be at very differing levels left after a year.

Simple answer, depends on the level of issue,

But, I use the Gtechniq P1, and a hand rub seems to be all that's required in the main. I admit the front end might need a light machine, but its all environment dependant, and takes me probably 45 minutes to do a front end refresh once a year/18 months.

Thanks all. Too many uncertainties for my liking. Was steered towards having this pro applied after a detail, but will now have a more conventional sealant used instead. I don't want to get locked into getting stuff professionally removed at some point in the future if I want to polish the car myself.

Whereabouts are you, I could always do a panel if local to me to show you the benefit.

Many thanks for the offer - I understand the potential benefits of this type of product, and the company involved has an impeccable reputation. However, I don't wish to tie myself for evermore to any professional by using it and then having to get it properly removed as and when it needs it. But again, I do appreciate the offer.
