Hi folks,

I'm thinking about buying a second hand leather steering wheel on which the colouring has faded/worn very badly. How easy are they to recolour? Is it a DIY job with some boot polish? Or do you use specific dye? I bought some for seats once but it seemed a bit of a faff and I never got around to it. Or does it need sending off?

Thanks!

I would imagine that trying to recolour it wouldn't work, you'd constantly have stuff coming off in your hands.

Your best bet is to get I recovered by someone like http://royalsteeringwheels.com as they do an ace job!

yes Get it retrimmed. Any sort of polish think enough to significantly change the colour will just come off all over your hands.

There are companies which sell DIY leather restoration kits - for example;

That looks economical really simple to use. I'm suspicious.

I used that stuff a few years back and was surprised by the results.
