Afternoon all,

I've got a BMW M135 in White, the swirl marks and light scratches visible in direct sunlight are bothering me and I want to get rid of them.

I have a DA polisher with the 3M pads, Green, yellow comb, and blue comb.

At the minute I've applied AF Triple which obviously won't remove them as it's just a Polish.

Can anyone recommend a good compound & pad I can use with my DA, I've looked at Chemical Guys Vss swirl and scratch remover, but haven't seen any reviews. I will need to do the whole car which is a bit gutting.

Cheers all

Gaz

You'll probably need to do a 2-stage polish - Koch Chemie 8.02 or Menzerna FG400 followed by something like Carpro Reflect should see you well.

Both also available in small bottles, rather than 1L's as per other brands.

Thanks Chris,

I've been reading around various parts of the Web, someone suggested to try Meguiars 105/205 first as it's less harsh and if that fails then go more specialist like Gtechniq P1, have you ever used any of these or know of their reputation?

Cheers, I'm off to Google the two you recommend

Each to their own, I do use 205 occasionally amongst many other finishing polishes but have never got on with 105. As far as I'm aware they are only available in large bottles which doesn't make much sense if you are only looking to do one car.

Every brand has their dud products and for me P1 is one of Gtechniq's so I'd personally not recommend it.

cheers

Thanks Chris,

What pads do you use?, as I already have the 3M foam pads, I'm led to belive to stick with the Yellow waffle for the cutting then finish with the blue waffle comb for finishing off. Sound about right?.

Yeah the 3M waffles should be absolutely fine, one of my favourite pad ranges as it happens.
Yellow is polishing, blue/black are finishing, green is compound.
I'd start with blue pad and finishing polish - see what you achieve and then consider moving up the abrasive scale depending on how you get on.

Enjoy!
