Hi all

I've just picked up two towing eyes from my local breakers before heading for the first track day next month in my newly acquired 996. Just wondering what's the best way to clean all the rust off them before i paint them red? And what's the best paint to use to prevent a reappearance of the rust?

Obviously, the one on the top is virtually rust free, the one on the bottom however needs some work

Thanks in advance

Quick scrub with a wire brush and apply some rust preventer before painting. Just looks to be surface rust so should be an easy job.

Problem with those items is they are Nickel plated and won't respond well to being painted

Hmm. I suppose I could wrap them in red tape which will do the job but look naff! I was wanting to paint them to look nice and visible for track days, if I bin/ beach it I don't much fancy them using the rear arms as anchors because they don't see the eye

Red Plastidip might be a better idea.

Use an etch primer.
