Car Paintwork ruined after Coffee Spill
Discussion
Mopping is machine polishing done by a gorilla. Fast cut plus or g3 on a ragged farecla white pad or wool mop followed by a filler heavy glaze. Itll look lovely til you wash the glaze off then it'll be a hologrammy mess. You want someone who will do a machine correction in stages finished off and refined until perfect without any fillers.
This is one of those threads that can go either way.
Option 1 - lots of sage advice and clear steps forward for the OP.
Option 2 - the use of Waitrose and Kia will be a green light for the hounds to rip the crap out of the OP.
Given the hour I'll got for option 1. If it was a Friday around three pm then definitely option 2.

On that basis pretty much every bodyshop employs gorillas because that is the industry standard for machine polishinghondafanatic said:

1 heavy pass with no refining then hide the holograms with filler heavy glaze? Industry standard for the s
te ones yes. A bit more time spent breaking down the first pass then a second pass with a softer pad and finer polish working it down to a perfect finish is what the good ones do, at least the one I worked at did and the 2 others i use do if you ask and pay for a decent job. I suppose theres no point in soing a good job since most people rent transport appliances these days and bin them when the screenwash needs topped up incase they get their hands dirty or the neighbours catch on to the fact its over 3 years old.Edited by OldGermanHeaps on Tuesday 22 August 08:26

Compounding with a G3 type product with a foam head is the norm. There is no limit to the number of passes, you continue until you're happy with the finish. Then you move onto a softer pad with a finishing glaze. That is the norm for your average bodyshop.Notice, bodyshop not detailer.
I don't think the OP is expecting his car to win trophies with his paintwork

Round here if someone refers to the process by name as mopping your guaranteed a half arsed noticably s
t job, if they refer to it as compounding or correction its more likely they are going to try to do a decent job. Thats the point i'm getting at.
And there is a limit to how many passes you can do, strikethrough is a real thing.
