HI All,

I'm looking for some advice on a wax/polish combo to bring out the best in my Mini. I've been using AG Super Resin Polish but it just doesn't seem to be giving me the finish I want and isn't bringing out the best in the colour.

Can anybody with the same/similar colours give me any help?

AG SRP is just that - a polish. It will fill small scratches & marring & can be used to polish the same out (with pads) so I use it as a base before a reasonable wax coating. Lots of people swear by (& I also use) a range of Poorboys Natty Wax. For that deep blue I'd go with Natty Black (don't think its just for black cars, its good for any dark colours).

Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro might be worth a try - it's supposed to be colour-charged for blue paint

AG HD Wax on top of the SRP.

I wouldn't buy any wax that will change the colour or in some way effects the way the colour is seen.

HI all,

Apologies for the late reply PH doesn't notify me of replies any more.

So, I've done a bit of research and from what I understand, the coloured waxes (poorboys, Dodo Juice etc.) only aim to dye the clear coat, rather than actually giving the best finish.

Therefore, is a better option to look at using a high quality wax and polish combo to bring up the clear coat?

Completely true. Waxes will do exactly that, wax the car, colour of the wax is not an issue.

AG stuff is generally overpriced and full of fillers that trick you into thinking its doing a good job but have shockingly poor longevity.

Best way to bring it all up is to take it to a detailing company and let them do some stage 1 polishing work. That said I don't think its worth it to be honest your car does not need that level of work so, second best, is to invest in a DA polisher yourself (don't buy a cheap orbital), some decent polish from Scholl Concepts and watch some You Tube videos. Third best you apply said polish by hand.

Waxes are a personal preference, I have heard good things about AG HD actually despite above comment, I use Victoria Concours wax (small tub can be got for around £30) or Fusso 99 is getting rave reviews.

Would really recommend Gyeon Bathe+ shampoo too - it add an extra layer on the wax extending its lifetime.

I used poorboys ssr 2.5 for a little polish, applied with a standard DA machine, and then auto finesse ultra glaze just for a little extra shine. Wax i use bilt hamber double speed wax (Not yet applied on the inside shots)
