Hello Guys,
my 2015 Qashqai was parked, hand brake on and a fella reversed bmw into front bumper on passenger side. my bumper was pushed into or broken and also one P sensor fell down. the guy accepted his mistake and asked to contact his insurance to sort out repair. I instructed my insurance company to sort out and they arranged a bodyshop to do repair, took the car away and changed the bumper/sensor etc and delivered the car back.
immediately, I noticed there is gap in bonnet and wing and door assembly. driver side vs passenger side noticeable difference, I could push my finger under the bonnet, Bumper seems loose:- can push down and hear click eventhough bumper is fully closed.

Contacted body shop, they said, its nothing to do with their repair as their repair was done very below at bumper.
I asked are you sure if chassis or crossmember etc is not bent or damaged.
their reply, "any damage would have been seen and repaired when they strip the vehicle to find any underlying damage". so I said give me a report in writing, what was damaged and repaired and statement the car is exactly in pre-accident condition. they did not reply me back. so I contacted my insurance who sent in an engineer to assess the car, who spent five minutes on car, talked to bodyshop and sent the report saying, the gaps are 'within tolerance' so the repair is acceptable. but no mention of there may have structural issues.
so I told my insurance, I want my car in pre-accident condition nothing less nothing more, and the gap is not acceptable to me and also I would to like to have a written statement stating that there is no structural damage cos of accident and car has still pre-accident value. Then insurance contacted engineer and now engineer wants to send me take another opinion from another bodyshop guy who is also his 'mate'.

I am confused now, what I should do next, should I chose my own path and find a decent independent structural garage/engineer to check out for any damage?
Any advice please, you think it's unreasonable to accept a car pre-accident condition? bodyshop said, this gap is not caused by their repair, but engineer states garage has left the gaps but its acceptable cos it's within tolerance! so in other words bodyshop did messed up the job, but its within tolerance so it should be ok!
Many thanks for any advice..

Could you photograph an undamaged car at the dealer or ask them to assess any damage?

That looks to be a poor job based on the comparison photo, take the matter up with your insurer.

Has it had body work before?
Can you guarantee that the gaps were the same before repair or is it just because your eye is drawn to the gaps, the first photo is hard to tell as their is no context i.e. wider image.
Are you the first owner?

It looks to me like a poorly aligned wing, if that was a narrower gap on the passenger side it would have almost have made sense from some upward compression, but it's not.

I can't see how that wing to A pillar gap has anything to do with this repair, it's very hard to tell from the pics but the drivers side looks like it's had paint in the past?
