Hi

We have a 2011 Ibiza which when cleaner shows a possible paint imperfection which appears to be getting worse. Can anyone offer advise on this? We’ve had the car from new but only recently has this become apparent. The issue appears to be ‘under’ the paint of that makes sense.

Suncream off someones hands, lightly wet sand and polish it up as the oils penetrate the top layer if you just compound it will reappear.

Yep, suncream from a kid probably, you can see the finger marks, not Seats fault unfortunately.

Excellent effort! Thanks for that and of course it makes perfect sense.
By wet sand can you give a novice a little more of a guide on the procedure and what I’ll need.

This video shows how to remove a scratch, but the principle is the same:

Wet sand with the lightest grit you can get away with (I'd start at 5000), then polish away the cloudiness you create

There’s a very sharp swage on that panel, my advice is if you’re a novice do not attempt to wet sand it yourself, get a pro in. Wet sanding is itself a fairly simple job to do but unless you’re well practiced it is extremely easy to sand/polish/burn through an edge.
If you’re confident by all means give it a go but be careful!!
