Dented Wheel Arch
Discussion
Hello,
I have a Renault Meagane II and have some damage to the offside rear wheel arch, as can be seen in the photos.
I'd like to get this repaired. I emailed the photos to a couple of local bodywork places and they came back with quotes in excess of £500 which is not something I can currently justify spending!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could repair this more cheaply? I'm not particularly looking for a 5star job, but just an improvement on the current look! I can get my hands into the gap behind the dent.

It's the rear, so not the same as just knocking out a similar dent of a front wing.
Have a look underneath & you'll see there are two skins which come together as part of the arch rim - the inner part of the wheelwell & the quarter panel - so battering it out with a hammer isn't really an option.
That's going to need pulling - either by self tappers & a slide hammer or preferably by welding tags & pulling them to reshape before removing the tags.
I'd suggest taking it round a few local-to-you backstreet bodyshops & see what they come up with.

Thanks for the reply, most appreciated.
I presume something like this (perhaps slightly smaller) wouldn't do the job?

Err, no that won't work, that's for large flattish panels, not creased up mangled metal like yours.I presume something like this (perhaps slightly smaller) wouldn't do the job?

It's needs tag pulling and panel beating, easily repairable to the right man though.
