Plastidip first attempt

So, as above, I tried some of this on the wheel of my track car. Its all pretty simple, clean wheels and spray on, light coats first (3-4) then heavier final cost. It all went well but the plastidip seemed very thin and as soon as I put them on my car I could see the surface was broken in places and showing the metal underneath.

So, is the issue it simply wasn't on think enough or something else? I feel like it needs most of a can for 1 wheel...
