Protecting freshly painted car
Discussion
Afternoon,
Car will be back from painters this weekend and was wondering when I should protect it and with what ?
Car is Silver (BMW Polar Silver I think).
Body panels are not metal, if that makes any difference.
It is a garage queen that will only be used in nice sunny days, so unlikely to see rain and or winter conditions.
I like, just because it is easy to buy and cheap, Autoglym super resin and HD wax.
Car has a value so not against spending on a better wax if necessary.
Thanks

general rule of thumb is to let the paint gas out for a period of time after it's been painted, before you put any heavy duty protection on it.
Just got mine back and waited until about 7 weeks post paint to seal and wax it. Even then, in the recent hot weather the paint is still settling.
Most paint shops say do what you want with it straight off, some people say wait months...i just split the difference personally.
What have your paint shop said on the subject?
If it's in the garage i would leave it a few weeks, the only reason i caved and did mine is because it lives outside, and it's prime acid rain/pollen season at the moment...i figured that was the greater of two evils for new paint.
